Weldon and Glenside fire companies display American flags along Easton Rd

The Greater Glenside Patriotic Association showed appreciation for the Weldon and Glenside fire companies, with assistance from Abington and Cheltenham townships, for displaying American flags along Easton Road.

The flags are generally flown on Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Veterans Day, the GGPA said, noting that organizers are currently replacing some broken flag poles and tattered flags, which they hope to complete by July 4.

“We would like to thank Anderson Welding in Oreland for their assistance in making new poles and receivers for us, as well as Congresswoman Madeleine for her generous donation of new flags to replace our worn-out ones,” the GGPA said. “We would especially like to thank Gerry Gerhard and Laurel Fraser from Weldon Fire Company for their efforts in the new poles and flags along the Abington side of Easton Road. This would not have happened without them.”

The GGPA also noted that the flag tradition along Easton Road has gone on since 1965.
