Village Diner to host fundraiser for Shane’s Kindness, GoFundMe launched

The Village Diner in Glenside will host a fundraiser for Shane’s Kindness, a Springfield Township-based nonprofit, on December 4 from 8:00am to 1:00pm.

The event will include breakfast and lunch specials, and a local “Grinch” will be appearing from 9:00am to 11:00am for entertainment and photo opportunities.

During the event, Village Diner staff will have trash cans filled with ice water dumped on their heads at 8:00am and at 12:00pm.

Shane’s Kindness “is devoted to strengthening our community by spreading acts of kindness, small and large, to help support and encourage those in need,” according to their website.

“Our front of house manager, Mo, is good friends with the founders of the nonprofit and as I listened to her tell me about them and about the work they do, I was blown away by her emotion and passion,” Matt Collins, a staff member, said. “I had the opportunity to sit with the founders and got to get a small glimpse of their story.”

“We are a community diner. If we aren’t reaching out to those in our community who are struggling or hurting then what is the point?” manager Frank said.

“We at the diner want the people in this community to know that they are loved by us,” Collins said. “We are excited when we see them walk through our doors, and we’re willing to step out of our comfort zones to help. That is why we are doing this.”
