Vice President JD Vance’s office responds to Gov. Shapiro’s criticisms of government shutdown (which is reportedly ending soon), President Trump promises $2K stimulus checks

Vice President JD Vance’s office responded to Governor Josh Shapiro’s comments delivered on Friday during a Philadelphia press conference, during which he criticized Vance over the government shutdown.

Vance reportedly criticized Shapiro’s court order demanding the release of SNAP funds, and Shapiro described Vance’s approach as “bull—- politics”. Shapiro added that “America has a president and a vice president that don’t give a damn about all Americans.”

Taylor Van Kirk, Vance’s press secretary, told Fox News Digital today that Shapiro should “take a look in the mirror if he wants to see who is to blame for this Democrat shutdown.”

“While little Josh was whining like a child about the problems his own party created, the Trump administration has been crafting a deal with commonsense Democrats to reopen the government and fund SNAP benefits,” Van Kirk said.

In related news, the 41-day government shutdown is nearing its conclusion as senators finalize a legislative package, CBS News reported today.

The final version of the bill will extend government funding through January 2026 and include three year-long funding bills for various federal agencies and programs. The bill still needs approval from the House and the signature of the president before the shutdown ends, CBS News said.

In other news, President Donald Trump has said that the majority of Americans could receive $2,000 in dividends due to an influx of tariff revenue.

“People that are against tariffs are fools. We are now the richest, most respected country in the world. We are taking in trillions of dollars and will soon begin paying down our enormous debt… Record Investment in the USA, plants and factories going up all over the place,” Trump said on Truth Social. “A dividend of at least $2000 a person (not including high-income people) will be paid to everyone.”
