UPS employees nationwide preparing to strike, significant delays likely

The Philadelphia Inquirer has reported that roughly 340,000 UPS employees may go on strike if a collective bargaining agreement is not reached by August 1.

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 623, which represents roughly 5,000 Philadelphia UPS workers, has been holding “practice pickets” in July.

From the article:

If a work stoppage were to take place, it would be the largest single-employer strike in U.S. history. And even if there is no strike, the UPS workers’ next contract is expected to set a new standard for package delivery workers across the country.

According to The Inquirer, a strike “seems likely” and would mean significant delays for deliveries.
