Upper Moreland High School Marching Unit crowned National Champions with highest score in school history

The Upper Moreland High School Marching Unit has been crowned USBands Group V Open National Champions following their final performance of the 2024 production, “A World Where We Belong!”, on Saturday, November 2 at MetLife Stadium.

According to their post, the Unit received a score of 98.1, the highest score in school history, and took home awards for Best Music, Best Visual, Best Overall Effect, and Best Color Guard.

The Unit’s score was the highest posted across the 60 bands in all size divisions that competed in Open Class (advanced) throughout the day, the district said.

“Congratulations to Mr. Cowen, his staff, & our amazing UMMU students!” the district said in the post.

In October, the Unit took first place at the USBands Pennsylvania Group V Open State Championship and performed in the 6ABC Action News Yard.

They also took first place at the Cavalcade of Bands State Championships in November 2023.
