The Upper Moreland Free Public Library is temporarily closed for inspections due to a recent bed bug infestation.
Cathy Gilmore-Clough, Executive Director, announced via letter today that library officials were notified of two incidents, one on September 4 which involved a patron report of bites they believed were received at the library, the other on September 21 which involved a bug found on a patron’s clothing after leaving the library.
According to Gilmore-Clough, a steam cleaning took place on Sunday, followed by conversations with several pest control companies on Monday.
“The advice that we felt was most comprehensive was to have a K9 bed bug detection company to identify any areas of infestation and then schedule treatment,” the letter said. “Within hours, we contracted we contracted with a K9 bed bug detection company to do a full inspection of the facility.”
Gilmore-Clough noted that the team would not be ready until Thursday.
