Upper Dublin police release footage of recent ‘egregious’ school bus violation, urge area residents to exercise caution

The Upper Dublin Township Police Department in Fort Washington released footage of an “egregious” school bus violation as a reminder to area residents to be more careful.

In September, Upper Dublin School District announced that it entered into a partnership with Bus Patrol and Upper Dublin police. Since then, officers have been reviewing school bus violations captured by cameras mounted on school buses.

According to the department’s post, the violation below was captured at approximately 6:37am on Monday, January 12 at the intersection of N. Limekiln Pike and Golden Drive.

The department said the violation “is one of the most egregious we have reviewed to date. The result of this driver’s actions could have been so much worse than the citation they will be receiving. Thankfully, these two students exercised the caution that the vehicle operator clearly lacked.”

Police are reminding drivers to stop at least 10 feet from a school bus with red signal lights flashing and stop signal arms activated. The penalty for each violation is $300. To learn more about the program, you can click here.
