Maximillian Han, 29, of the 1800 block of Hood Lane in Upper Dublin, pleaded guilty to third-degree murder charges. He admitted to fatally beating his 58-year-old father during a heated argument in December 2019.

Han’s admission of guilt was accompanied by a mental illness plea agreement. The plea was accepted by a Montgomery County judge, who sentenced him to 22.5 to 45 years in prison. Han would have received a life sentence without the plea.

Han’s case had been postponed from 2019 because a psychiatrist determined that he was unable to go to trial at that time. According to Assistant District Attorney Kathleen McLaughlin, state prison officials will determine if Han needs mental health treatment going forward.
