U.S. News & World Report recognizes Jefferson Health Hospital in Abington as a top maternity hospital

U.S. News & World Report put out its inaugural Best Hospitals for Maternity list and Jefferson Health Hospital in Abington was one of the 238 hospitals in the country to make the cut. The hospitals were not ranked numerically.

The methodology was based on, among other criteria: the number of early elective deliveries, amount of cesarean sections performed on low-risk women, the likelihood of newborn complications, breastmilk feeding rates and whether a hospital offered vaginal birth after a C-section.

Jefferson was one of 10 in Pennsylvania recognized. The others included: Pennsylvania Hospital (Philadelphia), Chester County Hospital (West Chester) Paoli Hospital (Paoli) Lancaster General Hospital (Lancaster), Reading Hospital (West Reading) Geisinger Medical Center (Danville), Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital (Greensburg), Geisinger-Bloomsburg Hospital (Bloomsburg) and Mount Nittany Medical Center (State College).
