Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele honored six civilians and 20 law enforcement officers today, among them several who live in or serve greater Glenside.
Civilian Aaron Scott of Abington Township was honored “for his bravery in confronting an armed man, who followed his mother home from a casino and attempted to rob her at gunpoint,” the post said in reference to the arrest of Khabir Shepard in August 2025.
Loresha McCray, the manager of the Five Below at Greenleaf at Cheltenham (2385 W Cheltenham Avenue, Wyncote) was honored “for the life-saving response and subsequent excellent investigation into an attempted murder stabbing of a security guard at a 5 Below store following a retail theft,” the post said in reference to the assault of a security guard in December 2024.
Cheltenham Township officers Stewart Coyle and Sean Maguire and detectives Philip Degliomini and Matthew Gonglik were commended for their efforts in the stabbing incident as well.
