Two Germantown Academy swimmers to compete in U.S. Olympic swimming trials this week

Germantown Academy High School’s Landon D’Ariano and Emily Hamill will each be vying for spots on the U.S. Olympic team this week as they head to Indianapolis for the U.S. Olympic trials.

D’Ariano, a senior, qualified in both individual medley events with the 12th-best time in the 400 and the 69th-best time in the 200. He competes for Germantown Academy Aquatic (Fort Washington) and has committed to Texas University in the fall.

In 2022, D’Ariano was named to the USA Swimming National Junior Team.


Hamill, a junior, is ranked No. 22 in the 200 backstroke and No. 64 in the 100 backstroke. She also competes for Germantown Academy Aquatic and has committed to Georgia University in fall 2025.

In 2022, Hamill was selected as one of 48 girls in her age group to attend the 2022 National Select Camp at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. 


A maximum of 52 swimmers can qualify for the U.S. Olympic team (26 men and 26 women). 1,007 qualified for the trials, which began yesterday at Lucas Oil Stadium. They will continue through Sunday, June 23.

Each event will air on Peacock, at NBCOlympics.com, and on the NBC Sports app. The evening sessions also will air live every night on NBC10.
