Two Cheltenham grads vying for Philly offices this Tuesday

Cheltenham High School will be well-represented in Tuesday’s Democratic Primary in Philadelphia.

Christy Brady ’90 (formerly Christy Meehan) is running for Philadelphia City Controller, and Rue Landau ’87 is running for Philadelphia City Council. If elected, Landau would become the first-ever openly LGBTQ+ member of Philadelphia’s council.

Brady was named Acting City Controller in November 2022, succeeding Abington graduate Rebecca Rhynart, who resigned from the post to run for mayor. Prior to the appointment, she had been serving as Philly’s Deputy City Controller.
