On the evening of Thursday, July 28, an out-of-service SEPTA trolley slammed into a historic house in Southwest Philadelphia.
This marks the fifth SEPTA bus/trolley crash in one week, resulting in one death and dozens injured.
According to NBC Philadelphia, the trolley was caught on camera going off the tracks, into an SUV and into the stone façade of the old Blue Bell Inn that has sat on the corner since 1766.
“A SEPTA trolley just went through my living room,” Delia King, the woman who cares for the pre-Revolutionary War building, said.
SEPTA officials have said that the incidents are an “unfortunate coincidence” and not indicative of “any one systemic issue,” spokesperson Andrew Busch told KYW News.
