Tiffin Indian Cuisine, which has a location at 8080 Old York Road in Elkins Park (Cheltenham Township), recently celebrated its 20th anniversary.
Tiffin’s Elkins Park location opened in 2010. The first Tiffin restaurant was launched by Munish Narula, a Wharton MBA grad and former Wall Street investment banker. The 20th anniversary coincides with his decision to shut down the original Girard Avenue store and open in Northern Liberties.
The chain’s other locations exist in Fairmount, Malvern, Northern Liberties, Mt. Airy, Wynnewood, Bryn Mawr, South Philadelphia, King of Prussia, Newtown Square, and Cherry Hill, NJ.
“Tiffin’s success is a testament to our mission of making Indian food accessible and popular for mainstream audiences,” Narula said. “When I did Karma in Old City, Indian cuisine was still exotic for the majority of local diners. Now in addition to our Tiffin 12 locations, there are four competitors locally who are former Tiffin staff, and about 40 other Indian places throughout the greater Delaware Valley.”
