Three consecutive days with less than 100 new positive cases in Montgomery County

During a press conference today Montgomery County officials announced that since May 2nd there have been 97 new cases on Sunday and 88 new cases on Monday of Coronavirus in the county. Sixty-four of the 185 cases are residents of a long-term care facility and residents of Montgomery County. The total case total for Montgomery County is now 4,570.

There have now been three consecutive days with less than 100 positive cases. On May 2nd 76 cases were reported followed by 97 on May 3rd and 88 on May 4th.

County officials also announced that eight individuals have been reported to have died due to Coronavirus since May 2nd. That brings the countywide total to 314. The total probable death total is 156. Probable deaths are not confirmed by a lab test.

Locally the numbers are as follows:

  • Abington Township is at 328, which 17 more than since May 2nd
    • There have been 26 overall deaths in Abington, which is two more than since May 2nd
  • Cheltenham Township is at 355, which is seven more than since May 2nd
    • There have been 21 deaths in Cheltenham, which is one more than since May 2nd
  • Jenkintown is at 25, which is the same as since May 2nd
    • There have been zero deaths in Jenkintown

In regards to long-term care facilities in the county, 1,175 residents of these facilities have tested positive and 520 staff members have done so. These numbers are self-reported and not all residents and staff members officially reside in the county.

In regards to testing. from April 16th through May 1st, 3,266 tests have been administered at the county testing sites. It has received the results for 3,117 and 466 people have tested positive. The rate of positive results continues to be approximately 15%.
