Local historian Chuck Langerman has highlighted the current professional statuses of three Cheltenham alumni:
Dr. Jeff Weiss (above left)
Dr. Weiss, a 1962 graduate and Wyncote native, retired from the Stanford Research Institute (SRI) in Menlo Park, California, in November 2022 following a 38-year career.
After graduating from Cheltenham High, Dr. Weiss matriculated at Princeton University where he earned a A.B. In Nuclear Physics, then went on to Harvard University where he completed his M.A. And Ph.D. in Particle Physics. He worked primarily in “Remote Sensing” and United States Government national security work, which included many top-secret government projects.
At Cheltenham High, he was involved with the Science Seminar and played varsity soccer and tennis.

Brian K Oglesby (above middle)
Oglesby, a 1989 graduate, economic development consultant, and President and CEO of the Eastern Minority Supplier Development Council, was recently named a member of the 2024 National Minority Supplier Development Council Global Link Advisory Council.
The Global Link Program works to “link historically underserved populations with corporate purchasing entities to create mutually beneficial economic partnerships and address the racial wealth gap across the globe.”
Oglesby also received an appointment to the Pennsylvania Advisory Committee on Inclusive Procurement (PACIP). Created by Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro through executive order in September 2023, the PACIP intends to “increase and open new doors for small and small diverse businesses to compete for state contracts.”
He earned a master’s degree in Organizational Dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania.

Liam Dillon (above right)
Dillon, a 2001graduate, is currently a journalist for the Los Angeles Times, one of the largest metropolitan newspapers in the country. He covers the issues of housing affordability and neighborhood change across California.
Dillon has been recognized as of the nation’s top journalists on housing and urban issues, and his work has led to new laws and other public policy change.
At Cheltenham High, Liam was an honor student and the “Voice of Panther Basketball,” handling the play-by-play announcing duties for both the boys’ and girls’ teams. He also did some work on Cheltenham High School’s channel 42 television sports broadcasts.
He graduated Georgetown University in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in Government.
