The Springfield Township Police Department announced the arrest of Logan Beitel, 21, and Sebastian Pavone, 18 (pictured above), and one juvenile for various firearms offenses in Wyndmoor.
Springfield Township Police Department Detectives initiated an investigation into the manufacture and illegal transfer of firearms in and around Springfield Township. The investigation included a search of Sebastian Pavone’s residence where he was discovered to be in possession of a privately made firearm, also referred to as a “ghost gun.” The investigation led to Beitel and a juvenile.
On August 15, Cheltenham Township Police Officers stopped a van with the juvenile suspect and Beitel inside. Beitel was in possession of a ghost gun and the juvenile was in possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, a large amount of U.S. currency and a ghost gun.
Springfield Detectives executed search warrants on the van and Beitel’s home where they located parts for the manufacture of firearms and an AR-15-style rifle.
The investigation determined that Beitel built and assembled ghost guns from kits ordered through the internet. He then transferred the firearms to Pavone and the juvenile, who were not old enough to receive that transfer.
Beitel has been charged with Possession of Firearm by a minor, Sales to ineligible transferee, Criminal use of a communication facility, Conspiracy to possess marijuana with intent to distribute, Corruption of minors, Possession of an instrument of crime with intent to deploy it criminally, and Sales of firearms. He was arraigned before an on-call judge where bail was set at $25,000 cash. He was remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility. His preliminary hearing is scheduled before Magisterial District Judge Katherine McGill (38-1-08).
