PennDOT recently determined that some driver’s license exams were not properly administered, resulting in roughly 2,500 newly licensed drivers in Pennsylvania being forced to retake their road test, 6ABC reported today.
Those drivers have been instructed to start over with a learner’s permit and repeat both the skills and knowledge exams. Approximately 1,600 of the 2,500 affected drivers have retaken the exam.
According to 6ABC, the problem involves driving skills tests conducted at the 2900 block of S. 70th Street in Southwest Philadelphia between October 2024 and November 2025. A criminal investigation was previously launched, though PennDOT did not identify the investigating agency.
PennDOT said no criminality was found and an internal review is ongoing.
