NBC10 reported today that thieves broke into 35 cars within a two-hour span in Cheltenham Township.
“A lot of the vehicles had a window broken. Several reported items missing, various things in value. The vast majority of the vehicles had nothing taken,” Lieutenant Andrew Snyder said.
Police say that the neighborhood was targeted by the same two men driving a black Nissan and believe the suspects may also be responsible for a series of auto incidents—vandalism and theft—in Cheltenham during the early morning hours of Sunday, June 16.
“We’re looking at the possibility that these may be the same two individuals,” Snyder said.
Rockledge police reported that suspects burglarized at least six vehicles in the borough between Tuesday, June 11 and Wednesday, June 12. In April, Abington police reported an uptick in Kia and Hyundai thefts and/or attempted thefts. In May, at least two Elkins Park residents were hit: One resident’s car was broken into, another’s was stolen.
The department is asking residents and business owners to report any and all suspicious-looking activity to police immediately.
