The Top 10 Benefits Of Lifting Weights (Part 1): “Fitman” Eric Brown

“Fitman” Eric Brown, who owns the Fitman Performance and Physique Center in Roslyn says that the benefits of lifting weights are life changing.

“Pumping iron has delivered phenomenal benefits to me both mentally and physically since I started as a skinny teenager,” the NGA pro natural bodybuilder said.

“I cannot stress enough the importance of strength training for every human on the planet. Nothing else that you do will make you look and feel better!”

“If you want to be physically stronger, mentally tougher, increase your self-confidence, and look like a new version of yourself, the iron is your new best friend.” Pumping iron is the gift that keeps on giving.”
What are the top 10 benefits of lifting weights? Fitman told us what the top 5 benefits were in this two-part article series.

1) You Will Build Mental Toughness

Of all of the benefits of lifting weights, Fitman says that building mental toughness is the most important.
“Life is not easy. We’ve all got something going on that creates stress in our daily lives.”

“I’ve lost great friends, been badly injured as an athlete, had debt up to my eyes, and gone through self-doubt at the beginning of my career as a personal trainer.”

“But lifting weights and overcoming resistance in the gym helped me develop the mental fortitude to overcome those situations.”

2) You Will Develop Confidence

Fitman says when he was younger he had no self-confidence.

“When you are 15 years old, physically weak, and looking like a scarecrow, it’s terribly difficult to be confident. When I began to lift weights and eat like an athlete my body began to change. Along with my physique, my confidence in myself also began to grow.”

“There is nothing better in this world than walking around with 100 percent confidence in who you are.”

3) You Will Earn Physical Strength

Fitman says that the hallmark of a superhero has always been physical strength.

“When you think of comic book heroes and heroines the first thing that typically comes to our mind is strength,” he said.

He says that lifting weights in a progressive fashion will allow you to increase your strength to levels that you could have never dreamed of.

“In high school and even in college, I could barely bench press 135lbs. Pull-ups were essentially impossible and my deadlift was laughable. I was real weak,” he said laughing!

“Fast forward to my late 20’s and early 30’s and I was able to attain a 260lb bench press, a 100lb weighted pull-up, and a 465lb deadlift. I did all of this while only weighing around 165lbs.”

“And I never took anabolic steroids either. I’m not the world’s strongest man but these numbers represent an incredible progression from where I started which was in the gutter,” he said.

4) You Can Forge A Spectacular Physique

Fitman says that caring for your health and your appearance shows that you respect your body.

“Not caring about your health or appearance is disrespectful to yourself and to your quality of life.”

“The ultimate way to improve how you look and feel is to begin to lift weights. The iron is your chisel and you are the sculptor.”

He said that if you do not like how you look or feel lifting weights 2 to 5 days per week will become your new ally in conquering that thought.

5) You Will Feel Great

Fitman told us that your health is your wealth.

“We only get one body. Our body is our most precious possession. But so many folks abuse their body and wonder why they have so many ailments and so much pain. The large majority of these issues are preventable.”

“While an occasional cheat meal or night out is a necessary part of life, consistently crushing your body with drugs, alcohol, a lack of sleep, poor nutrition, and inactivity will absolutely destroy your body,” he said.

“When you begin to lift weights and live the fit life you will know the difference between when your body is healthy and performing optimally to when you know it will fail an inspection.”
