The Homestead has opened in Glenside

The Homestead opened softly early this month at 1 South Easton Street in Glenside. The music and event venue will host weekend performances and weekday open mic nights.

The people behind The Homestead are Caitlyn Deviney and Ben Morris, who are a musical duo known as the Homestead Collective. Deviney and Morris utilized a Kickstarter campaign (and their own savings) to open the space. The Kickstarter campaign succeed in raising over $11,000, $6,000 more than the goal.

On Kickstarter, they shared their purpose behind The Homestead:

After two and a half years of playing shows, traveling, collaborating and hosting events, we are opening a music venue and creative space in the heart of Glenside, PA! This space will not only serve as an intentional listening room for musicians and bands, but will also be a creative home for all kinds of events and workshops, a recording studio, co-working space, video production and photography studio, and rehearsal space. We are making this space as versatile as we can for endless possibilities, and we want you to help us bring it to life.

The Homestead will hold a Grand Opening Event on January 25th at 7:00 p.m. The event will feature performances from special guest artists, including Homestead Collective themselves, artwork from Aimee Segal, small bites from local Glenside eateries and local brews for sale from the nearby The Ways Restaurant & Brewery.
