Dan and Chelsea Katz, Cheltenham natives and co-owners of The Highland Restaurant and Bar in Glenside, are looking forward to a sunnier version of spring.
On Tuesday, the culinary pair launched a new lunch menu, a new brunch menu is being released this Sunday, and they expect to finalize a new option-filled dinner menu by Tuesday.
The new dinner menu will feature items such as grilled barbecue chicken sandwiches, nachos, veggie potstickers, fish & chips, Thai calamari, and shareable charcuterie boards with hummus, veggies, and pita.
Many of the items will be shareable so everyone can get a little taste of everything.
“We want to give you what you want,” Dan, a 2002 Cheltenham High School grad, said. “We love hearing from our customers. Feedback, suggestions, ideas – that’s how we can grow a true sense of what people want and how we can serve them best. We welcome anyone to reach out directly through email or website submissions.”
In addition to the Glenside restaurant, the Katzes also own The Pizza Wheel and the award-winning West Avenue Grille (both in Jenkintown), which collectively make up the K to Z Collective Restaurant Group.
“We’re very hands on and we try to be as present and available as we can to our patrons,” Chelsea, a 2007 graduate of Cheltenham High School, said. “We’re here to do what the community wants and needs. West Ave Grille has been here for 23 years and we feel that it’s an anchor to the area.”
Chelsea noted that one of The Highland’s allures has been its walkability.
“One of the unique things about The Highland is that it’s right in a residential community. Even before we opened, we heard how excited people were to walk there,” she said.
The Highland currently offers a happy hour from Monday to Friday (4:00pm to 6:00pm), during which all restaurant menu items are $10 or under, complemented by plenty of drink specials. The Katzes also want to spread the word that their food truck will be up and running this spring and summer.
“With the nicer weather coming, we envision the Highland to be a second home to people. We want people to sit on the patio, have a drink, and catch a game or a conversation,” Dan said.
The Highland serves brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00am to 3:00pm.
This Sunday, The Highland will host a Dine & Donate event with Big Brothers Big Sisters from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. More information about the organization will be available during those hours.
