The TGI Fridays at the Willow Grove Park Mall is apparently closed for good.
TGI Fridays said in a Wednesday press release that it had closed underperforming locations in 12 states across the U.S. on Tuesday, January 2.
The Willow Grove location was among those on the list. Their Google page is listed as “Temporarily Closed.” No one answered when we tried to reach the restaurant by phone.
Prior to the closures, TGI Fridays had about 270 US locations—a footprint that has dwindled in recent years.
“Our top priority has always been delivering a superior experience for each and every TGI Fridays guest, and we’ve identified opportunities to optimize and streamline our operations to ensure we are best positioned to meet – and exceed – on that brand promise,” Ray Risley, U.S. President and Chief Operating Officer at TGI Fridays, said. “By strengthening our franchise model and closing underperforming stores, we are creating an unprecedented opportunity for Fridays to drive forward its vision for the future.”
New Jersey had the most closures with 7, followed by Massachusetts with 6, New York with 5 and Texas and Virginia with 4 each. There were also closings in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Maryland, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania.
As part of the store closures, TGI Fridays is offering more than 1,000 transfer opportunities, which represents over 80% of total impacted employees.
