Teen pleads guilty to fatal shooting of Abington adolescent who she said was her ‘best friend’

Ash Cooper, 18, of Bensalem, pleaded guilty on Thursday, March 21 to third-degree murder and related crimes in the November 2022 shooting death of Morgan Connors, 12, of Abington Township.

Ash Cooper, who previously went by Joshua Cooper, had called Connors her “best friend” and will spend 15 to 40 years in prison, The Inquirer said.

The shooting took place in the trailer Cooper shared with her father in the Top of the Ridge Trailer Park.

The investigation began when Bensalem Police received a 911 call from a woman who said her daughter got an Instagram video call from Cooper, during which she said she had just killed someone.

While on the call, Cooper flipped the camera around to show a portion of the victim’s body before asking the teen for help cleaning up the crime scene and disposing of the body.

Cooper was taken into custody at the scene and told police “it was an accident.” Investigators later learned that Cooper used a firearm from his father’s gun safe.

An affidavit states that during an interview with Cooper’s mother and police, Cooper claimed at one time he was in a sexual relationship with the victim, as reported by 6ABC.
