The Cheltenham Township Police Department announced that last night patrol officers found a vehicle parked behind the Wawa in Wyncote (8250 Limekiln Pike) which was wanted in connection to a felony that took place earlier on Wednesday in a neighboring area.
Police said the vehicle was occupied by a man and a woman, and that the man “refused to comply with orders, was making threats and brandished a handgun.”
The Montgomery County Eastern Region SWAT Team resolved what FOX29 reported to be a three-hour standoff between police and the armed man. Police reported no injuries during the incident.
The man was taken into custody at about 2:15am on Wednesday. Charges are pending at this time, police said.
Assisting police units came from Springfield, Abington, and Whitemarsh. The Montgomery County Department of Public Safety, Cheltenham Township Emergency Management and Cheltenham EMS assisted as well, police said.
