Suspect who allegedly robbed an Abington CVS at gunpoint arrested by US Marshals Fugitive Task Force

The Abington Township Police Department announced today the arrest of Shawn Tyrone Jason, 37, of Harrisburg. He has been charged with robbery and related weapons offenses in connection with an incident at the CVS located at 2622 Jenkintown Road in Abington Township on February 22.

According to officials, at approximately 2:45pm that day, the CVS Pharmacy was robbed at gunpoint. A male suspect, with his face covered with a surgical mask and sunglasses, and wearing gloves, stepped over the partition door, entering the employee area of the pharmacy. The suspect brandished a handgun and demanded that the pharmacist open the safe and hand over all of the narcotics, police said.

After receiving the narcotics, the suspect fled the store. Abington Detectives use state-of-the-art cellular forensics, video surveillance analysis, and intelligence sharing with other police departments to identify a suspect.

In addition to the CVS robbery, detectives learned that Jason was wanted by Harrisburg police for three counts of attempted homicide. On September 9, 2023, he allegedly shot three people, including a four-year-old child, after a verbal dispute with neighbors.

On April 23, Abington Police obtained an arrest warrant for Jason. On April 24, at 11:00am, Jason was arrested by the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force, without incident, after being surrounded in his hotel room in the 4600 block of Island Avenue in Philadelphia.

Jason was transported back to the Abington Police Department where he is being held on both the Abington and the Harrisburg arrest warrants, officials said.

He is scheduled to be arraigned sometime later today, police said.

“The Abington Police Department would like to thank the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force, and the Philadelphia Police Department for their assistance in this investigation and arrest,” the department said in a press release.
