SPS Technologies releases water, air monitoring and testing results, Montco commissioners honor First Responders for successful response

SPS Technologies in Jenkintown has released the monitoring and testing results regarding the aftermath of last month’s fire.

From their update:

SPS remains committed to the safety and well-being of our community following the recent fire. We have been diligently working with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP), the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), and the Philadelphia Water Department (PWD) to ensure public safety.

SPS intends to continue its air and water monitoring for the foreseeable future. We are providing the following information and monitoring results to the community, and we expect to update this portion of the SPS website a few times each week.

If you have questions about the air or water monitoring results or related topics, please contact the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) at (484) 250-5900 or www.dep.pa.gov/southeast.

Air, water and additional monitoring information and data can be found here.

In related news, the Montgomery County commissioners honored the Weldon Fire Company, Abington Township Fire Department, Second Alarmer’s Association and Rescue Squad of Montgomery County, Abington Township Police Department, and numerous mutual aid agencies for their response to the fire.

The commissioners also recognized the county’s Department of Public Safety for their efforts during the incident, which included 9-1-1 call-taking and dispatch, an Emergency Operations Center activation, a multiday deployment of FieldComm 1 and Special Operations personnel, evacuation and sheltering, public information assistance, and more.

“The Commissioners gave a special shoutout to several of our staff who responded to SPS as volunteer firefighters and then came to work the next morning and assisted with operations through their Department of Public Safety roles,” the Department of Public Safety said in a post.
