The Springfield Township Police Department announced today that National Night Out, scheduled for Tuesday, August 6, has been postponed due to weather concerns.
The National Weather Service’s forecast for tomorrow:
Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly between 2pm and 5pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 5pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 90. Northwest wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Tuesday Night
Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Low around 69. East wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
“This event is important to us and our community to get together and enjoy the summer months,” the department said in a post. “With that, we want everyone to have the best time possible, and to not be drenched by storms.”
Police said the event has been rescheduled for Tuesday, August 13 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm in the parking lot of the Springfield Township Police Department.
The evening will include food, games, demonstrations, station tours, and a dunk tank.
