Springfield police mourn the loss of retired longtime officer Raymond Potter

Raymond Potter, longtime officer with the Springfield Township Police Department, passed away peacefully at his Oreland home on Thursday, July 25. He was 78 years old.

According to his obituary, Sergeant Potter served in the Air Force before joining the department in February 1970. He retired in February 2018 after 48 years of service.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 3 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the John F. Murray Funeral Home, located at 1220 Bethlehem Pike in Flourtown.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of retired police Sgt. Ray Potter. Ray joined the force in 1970 and served 48 years before retiring. Thoughts and prayers to Ray’s family. Rest easy sir.
