Hamza Bdeir, a 2023 graduate of Jenkintown High School football team, and Dylan McKenzie, a 2023 graduate of Springfield Township High School (pictured above), have been named recipients of the Mini Max Award, granted annually on behalf of the Maxwell Football Club.

The award recognizes the “unique balance of football prowess, academic excellence and community service.” Each winner was nominated by their head coach and was evaluated by criteria that included on-field performance as well as work in the classroom and the community.

The club’s Player of the Year will be announced at a ceremony on February 5 at the Drexelbrook Catering and Events Center in Drexel Hill.

In January, Maya Johnson, a junior quarterback on Abington Senior High School’s flag football team, was honored with the award, marking the first time in the Maxwell Club’s 87-year history that female players are being formally recognized for their achievements on the gridiron.
