The Hatboro Police Department announced today that a speed limit reduction for S York Road between Armour and Crooked Billet roads (currently 35mph) is unwarranted following a September speed study and safety review.
Police said the decision was based on the completion of two speed limit studies and recommendations from USLIMITS 2, which is “a web-based tool designed to help practitioners set reasonable, safe, and consistent speed limits for specific segments of roads.”
During an October 27 council meeting, Hatboro police said they obtained the necessary information and quotes to acquire two permanent dynamic speed displays, one for each direction on York Road.
“This type of countermeasure displays the speed of vehicles as they approach the traffic control device,” police said in a statement. “The proposal has been included in 2026 budget submissions for review. In addition, the Police Department will allocate available resources and partner with our State Law Enforcement Partners to increase traffic enforcement in this area moving forward.”
