Sister Mary Dacey, SSJ, longtime principal and president of Mount St. Joseph Academy in Flourtown, passed away on Thursday, January 16.

Sister Mary served sixteen years as principal and president of Mount St. Joseph Academy before returning for a year as interim president, school officials said.

From Mount St. Joseph’s post:

As the first President of the Mount, Sister Mary Dacey, SSJ played a pivotal role in shaping our community. She departed this life on January, 16, 2025. While we mourn the loss of Sister Mary here on earth, we celebrate that she is at peace, and with our gracious and loving God. Her legacy of compassion and leadership continues to inspire us. Thank you to everyone for their prayers and condolences.

From La Salle College High School’s post:

Sister Mary’s time at the Mount was a period of great programmatic and facilities growth. Sister Mary forged strong relationships, including with all four of La Salle’s presidents, most recently collaborating as Covid adaptations began during her interim presidency. Sister Mary’s particular brand of warm dynamism will long be fondly remembered by the many MSJA alumnae among our current mothers who had her as teacher, principal, or president and counted her as a wise friend. May she rest in peace.

Services for Sister Mary Dacey have not been announced at the time of this writing.
