Showing Glenside the Better Ways to Drink and Eat

We stopped in today to check on the progress of the new Ways Restaurant and Brewery on Easton Road. On this impromptu visit, Stewart the project’s contractor gave us a tour of this ambitious project currently under construction.

The restaurant is owned by brothers and Jenkintown natives Steven and Tim Way. According to Stewart, the brothers are experienced brewers who have dabbled in this craft for almost fifteen years.

The entrance is guarded by doors crafted more than 100 years ago.

We look forward to a future sit-down with the brothers soon, but in the meantime we got a sneak-peek at the build out of this former nondescript printer’s space and walked away impressed at the level of craftsmanship so far on display. When finished, the tavern area will sport a back-bar made with maple slabs and other hardwoods. The interior will provide an open, comfortably informal atmosphere perfect for enjoying fine and fresh ales.

The bar area is progressing nicely. Given the amazing pile of hardwood on hand, the space should finish off spectacularly.

Stewart described the project as one of the most fun he’s ever worked on in light of not just the design, but also the quality of materials involved. We saw stacks of rough hewn lumber, slabs of maple, and oak boards ready for application throughout the space. When finished, the space itself will have a capacity of about 70, not including the beer garden which they expect to open in Spring 2020.

The exterior paneling is 22-gauge steel, made to last.

Stewart says he expects he’ll have the restaurant ready for opening sometime in April, and GlensideLocal will be there.

And, yes, the brewery is hiring.
