Seven electors representing most of Montgomery County at the Democratic Party Convention. All were elected as committed to Biden and two backed Harris quickly

During the primary election in May, one of the options on the ballot was to vote for electors to the Republican and Democratic party conventions. With President Joe Biden exiting the race and endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris, the electors to the Democratic Party Convention are now being widely discussed due to the important role they could play at a contested convention. If the party does not coalesce around Vice President Harris and there is another candidate (or multiple candidates) put forward, every elector will be able lobbied by the candidates to select the new nominee.

The electors are chosen by congressional district and most of Montgomery County falls within the 4th congressional district. On the May ballot, Democratic Party voters within the district were asked to cast a vote for up to seven electors. There were only seven choices, so the outcome wasn’t in question. On the ballot all were noted as committed to President Biden. The electors are below:

Neil Makhija
Montgomery County Commissioner
Makhija has endorsed Vice President Harris on Facebook stating, “I am proud to endorse KAMALA HARRIS, as delegate to the convention, as Montgomery County Commissioner in our most critical county in Pennsylvania, and as a friend of the VP for over a decade. I have long been hopeful to see her ascend to this moment.”

Kenneth Lawrence Jr.
Former Montgomery County Commissioner

Roseanne Milazzo
West Norriton Township Commissioner

Jamila Winder
Montgomery County Commissioner
Winder has publicly endorsed Vice-Preisdent [sic] Harris stating on Facebook, “I’m with HER. Vice President Kamala Harris exemplifies the strength, resilience, and vision that our nation requires at this pivotal moment.”

Melissa Cerrato
State Representative for 151st District (Ambler, and parts of Horsham and Upper Dublin Townships)

Jill Zipin
Founder and chairwoman of Democratic Jewish Outreach PA

Sean Kilkenny
Sheriff of Montgomery County

This list does not include what Democrats call “super delegates” which are elected officials like governors, members of Congress, and party leaders. FYI, President Biden is now a super delegate.

One prediction. If the party does not fall in line behind Vice President Harris, you will see it noted that the electors appeared on the ballot as only committed to President Biden.
