On Sunday, October 24th, approximately 5,000 SEPTA workers voted to authorize a strike if a new contract is not agreed to by the time their current contract expires on October 31st. The workers are members of the Transport Workers Union Local 234, which is the largest union of SEPTA workers.
Even if a strike does take place, Regional Rail will continue to run because train engineers and conductors are represented by a different union and have a separate contract.
