The Abington Township Police Department announced around 1:00pm on Monday that northbound Old York Road from Roy Avenue to Old Welsh Road is shut down due to a vehicle accident.

According to Emergency Alerts of Southeastern Pennsylvania, the accident involved a vehicle driving into a building at 1729 Old York Road.

An occupant is trapped inside a car, officials said. CH100, Squad 100, Rescue 300, Squad 500, Quint 10, and Medic 381 were dispatched.

Police ask that drivers avoid the area for the time being.
