The Lower Moreland Police Department announced at 4:40pm today that the perimeter of Huntingdon Pike and Byberry Road in Huntingdon Valley is shut down due to a vehicle accident.

Officers are currently on scene until the roadway is cleared. Officials are encouraging drivers to avoid the area for the time being. 

According to Emergency Alerts of Southeastern Pennsylvania, multiple fire crews were dispatched to the scene as well. A rescue was completed at 4:46pm, the agency said.

Update: The road was reopened around 5:30pm, Lower Moreland police said.
