Salus, a health science university in Elkins Park, recently unveiled its Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) Track, and students are seeing its benefits.

Salus’ SLP program previously required current students to fulfill specific prerequisite courses at other schools of higher education. The SLP track, which is part of the University’s Post-baccalaureate program, allows students to complete that coursework through Salus.
 
Prospective SLP students have been able to receive hands-on, interactive experiences with patients via the Post-bacc program, which gives them the best chance to get into a graduate program, either at Salus or someplace else. The program assists students who need to complete content-specific coursework, to improve their GPA, or to improve their study skills for academic success.
 
“The genesis of the project was how do we meet this need for our future students? There will be more value added if we could give them what they need here at Salus and not send them someplace else,” Robert Serianni, chair and director of the SLP department, said.
