Rosyln Native to Take Command of Philadelphia DLA Troop Support

PHILADELPHIA – Army Brig. Gen. Gavin Lawrence (above), former U.S. Army Logistics Deputy Director of Operations at the Pentagon, will assume command of the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support during a ceremony scheduled for June 25 at 10 AM.

Lawrence is a native of Roslyn, Pennsylvania and a graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School. He returns to DLA Troop Support after previously serving as the aide-de-camp to the organization’s commander early in his career.

Lawrence will assume command from Army Brig. Gen. Mark Simerly, whose follow-on assignment will be as the 19th Expeditionary Sustainment Command commanding general in the Republic of Korea. DLA Director Army Lt. Gen. Darrell Williams will preside over the ceremony, to be held at Naval Support Activity-Philadelphia.

DLA Troop Support is responsible for five supply chains that provide our nation’s military and government partners with: food and feeding equipment; clothing and textile items; construction and equipment materiel; medical materiel and pharmaceuticals; and industrial hardware consumable repair parts.

DLA Troop Support provides more than $17 billion in support to 51,000 global customers through a network of 3,700 suppliers.
