The Roslyn Fire Company announced today the opening of their annual Christmas tree sale at 1128 Bradfield Road.

The Christmas Tree Yard is open from Monday to Friday from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, and Saturday to Sunday from 9:00am to 9:00pm (closed on Thanksgiving).

As WHYY points out, beyond spreading holiday spirit, Christmas tree sales allow fire companies to afford better equipment and training, of particular significance given the area’s severe shortage of volunteers. According to a state legislative report, there were 300,000 volunteers during the 1970s and just 38,000 in 2018.
