Roling’s Bakery in Elkins Park was featured yesterday in an article for the Boston Globe.
The article chronicles owner Israel Roling, pictured above cleaning fudge from a paddle, and his sleepless day-to-day as he prepared for Rosh Hashanah this September.
“This is like tax season for me, I always say, if I was an accountant,’’ Roling told the Globe. “This is where I pay all my bills. This is the biggest holiday of the year.’’
As one of the few kosher bakeries in Greater Philadelphia, the article highlighted Roling’s healthy business practices: free deliveries during the pandemic, free cookies for kids, and the long hours during the holidays where he makes sure to please every last customer. Roling’s breads, rolls and bagels are made fresh from generations-old traditional recipes, and the business is under Rabbinical supervision from the Community Kashrus of Greater Philadelphia (Keystone-K).

Roling, 47, has been working at the family business since he was 11, and gets some much-needed relief from his six children, his wife, his brother, and his sister.
The Globe’s article comes on the heels of a September article by CNN which mentioned the bakery as part of its Rosh Hashanah coverage.
