The Rockledge Borough Police Department recently posted a message of gratitude to members of the local community for assisting in reuniting a three-year-old boy with his family.
Chief John Gallagher said he received a call on Saturday, August 26 regarding a small boy who had been seen wandering with his dog on Winchester Avenue.
From his Facebook post:
On Sat., Aug. 26th, I received a radio call at 6:38p.m. about a 3-year-old boy found with his dog wandering along Winchester Ave. Well, he had blond hair and blue eyes, and he certainly became the most popular kid in our Borough that evening, because so many children in the neighborhood came outside to make friends with him and his dog. He was in good hands; smiling, laughing and having fun.
Fortunately, I later discovered that he lived right in the area, but not without the help of the great residents in Strockville, especially Gene, who first saw this little boy on Loney St., and Lauren, who couldn’t have been more helpful. Many moms and dads came over to offer their assistance and provide information about this lost child. Some of whom I recognized from the Rockledge 4th of July Assoc.
This was an excellent example of how the police and the community can come together in the time of need. We all worked as a team to reunite this little boy with his family. He got home safe and sound, and so did his dog.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of the concerned parents who came out to help that night. I couldn’t have done it without you. Rockledge is a wonderful place to live, work and play, because of people like you. Again, thank you very much!
Thank you for supporting the Rockledge Police Department.
John Gallagher
