Thinking about going solar? Montgomery County-based Rising Sun Power is reminding residents of greater Glenside that the federal tax credit for solar is expiring in 85 days.
Andrew Zitin, a resident of Wyncote, an Elkins Park native, and a 2005 graduate of Cheltenham High School, says there are two ways to cash in on the tax credit: lease or own.
“Both come with zero upfront costs and both typically offer significant savings on day one, however every roof and person is different,” Zitin said, noting that the tax credit only applies to ownership and does not apply to the lease option.
“After purchasing solar panels, tax credit will pay for 30% of your project. The cool thing about purchasing solar panels is you can get them with zero dollars down,” Zitin said. “You could also look into the PPA or lease program which designed to just save homeowners money, but there is no tax credit available for this program.”

“I’ve been in the solar industry for close to 10 years, and a lot of my work has been done right here in Cheltenham Township,” Zitin said. “I’ve been working with the same amazing, hard-working and talented install crew for a long time. We get the job done right. I can truly say we have the best warranties in the industry.”
