Reverend Dr. Michael Gregory Tavella, former pastor of Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Abington Township, passed away on Thursday, December 19, with his family and pastor by his side at Abington Jefferson Hospital. He was 74 years old.

Pastor Mike, as he was known by his family, friends, and church members, was born on December 28, 1949 in Lancaster to the late Dominic and Nancy (née Myers) Tavella and grew up both there and in Manheim, his obituary said.

Services will be held on Monday, January 6 at 11:00am at Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2086 Parkview Avenue in Abington. Family and friends may call at the church from 8:30 – 11:00am. Interment is private.

Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to either Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church at the above address, or to The North American Lutheran Seminary at www.thenals.org. Contributions in the form of nonperishable food items and toiletries may also be given to The Bread of Heaven Food Pantry at Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church as well.
