State Representative Nancy Guenst, whose jurisdiction includes Bryn Athyn, Hatboro, Lower Moreland, Upper Moreland and part of Abington, announced a $7,000,000 project at the Hall Road facility in Abington Township.
The project will include construction of a treatment building addition, replacement of the well pump, and installation of one train of anion exchange filters with pre-filtration for treatment of PFAs (perfluorooctanoic acid and perfluorooctane sulfonate).
Testing by Aqua Pennsylvania detected PFAs in the water at the facility, according to Guenst.
“This funding will be able to benefit both our public health and the health of our infrastructure,” said Guenst in a statement. “Aqua Pennsylvania will now be able to stop the emergence of a known contaminant, while also improving their ability to provide clean water to our community.”
Rates are not expected to rise from the project, which is expected to begin in September with completion in March 2027.
