Rabbi Craig Axler, a 1990 Cheltenham High School graduate, is currently the head rabbi at Reform Congregation Temple Isaiah in Fulton, Maryland.
Prior to coming to Temple Isaiah in 2012, he served as a rabbi at Congregation Beth Or in Ambler.
Rabbi Axler was ordained at the New York campus of the Hebrew Union College Jewish institute of Religion in 2003, having been awarded an M.A. in Hebrew Letters in 2002. Before entering rabbinical school, Axler studied and worked for a number of years in the field of Music Therapy after completing his B.S. in Music Therapy at the State University of New York at New Paltz. His love of music connects with his love of Judaism.
According to local historian Chuck Langerman, Axler won first prize at the National History Day competition held at Temple University as a freshman at Cheltenham High in 1987.
