PSU Abington professor makes appearance on ‘Wall Street Week’ to talk U.S. sovereign wealth fund

Salar Ghahramani, associate professor of business law and international law and policy at Penn State Abington, recently appeared on Bloomberg Television’s “Wall Street Week” to discuss the U.S. sovereign wealth fund.

A sovereign wealth fund is a government-controlled investment fund that enables excess capital to be invested. Ghahramani shared his thoughts on the Trump administration’s plan to create a sovereign wealth fund in a Pension & Investments article in February.

Earlier that month, President Trump signed an executive order which recommends the federal government to establish a U.S. sovereign wealth fund to “promote fiscal sustainability, lessen the burden of taxes on American families and small businesses, establish economic security for future generations, and promote United States economic and strategic leadership internationally.”

In December 2024, Ghahramani published an article on the issue in the Yale Journal of International Affairs.

Other guests who spoke on international policies and sovereign wealth funds included Larry Summers, former Secretary of the Treasury; Nicolai Tangen, the CEO of Norway’s sovereign wealth fund; Mark Cabana, Head of US Rates Strategy at the Bank of America; and Michael Dunleavy, the Governor of Alaska.
