Abington Township announced today that individuals are potentially attempting to scam residents who live in close proximity to the SPS Technologies facility at 301 Highland Avenue in Jenkintown.

According to township fire marshal Chris Platz, the scams include:

• PHONE AND TEXT MESSAGE SCAMS
• UNSOLICITED IN-PERSON SOLICITATIONS
• DAMAGE ASSESSMENTS OR INSURANCE CLAIMS
• FRAUDULENT DONATIONS
• FAKE TOWNSHIP, COUNTY, OR FEDERAL EMPLOYEES
• FALSE JOB SOLICITATION SCAMS

Platz noted that the individuals are attempting to target those who may be vulnerable, distressed, or concerned after the recent fire. Tips to best respond to a scam attempt can be found here.
