Area residents are organizing a pop-up fundraiser titled “Fight for Human Rights: A Pop-up Fundraiser to Support Immigrant Families in Pennsylvania” from 1:00pm – 4:00pm on Sunday, February 22 at 107 E. Glenside Avenue in Glenside.
The fundraiser includes opportunities to make T-shirts, hear from experts, and make donations.
From the Facebook event page:
Join us on Sunday, February 22 in our effort to support this community who have been devastated by this administration’s policies and traumatized by ICE, Border Patrol and DHS to kidnap and deport family and friends.
MAKE T-SHIRTS
Excited to partner with Rusty Hawk Studio for the tools and the local designers who will provide the designs to make protest t-shirts!! Please bring your own t-shirt and $5/item donation to make your own wearable piece of protest in support of immigrants everywhere.
HEAR FROM EXPERTS
Speakers will be announced as they come on board, but we will have representatives from local organizations and legal council to speak on this issue and educate us on how we can help locally and nationally.
DONATIONS
All money will be donated to Pennsylvania Immigration Coalition (PIC). Their mission is to promote, defend and advance immigrant rights throughout Pennsylvania by building power in immigrant communities and advocating with a coordinated voice to establish welcoming public policies. Visit paimmigrant.org to learn more.
Many thanks to our partners: Cooper Graphic Design for organizing and logistics, Rusty Hawk Studios for access to screen printing tools and materials, Lisa Kelley, local artist for hosting and our community sponsors: Abington for Peace as well as Commissioners John Spiegelman, Lori Schreiber and Jimmy DiPlacido – for agreeing to fight the good fight!
