The Abington Township Police Department announced that Adair Jackson, 43, of Philadelphia, was arrested at his resident on the morning of Thursday, September 5 by Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Agents and local detectives for his ties to the fatal drug overdose of an Abington man.
On September 5, 2023, Abington Police responded to a medical emergency in the 900 block of Rydal Road, where they discovered a deceased 53-year-old male. Detectives processed the scene and determined that the cause of death may have been related to a drug overdose, which was later confirmed in an autopsy.
Detectives were able to identify the deceased’s drug dealer, who was arrested two days later after a search warrant was executed at their home and drugs were recovered. That dealer then identified Jackson as their source of supply, officials said.
Abington Detectives worked in partnership with Jenkintown Police, Pennsylvania State Police, and the Montgomery County Detective Bureau. On September 29, 2023, the department executed a search warrant at Jackson’s residence through which drug paraphernalia and three firearms were recovered.
The firearms were linked to a gun trafficking investigation that extended from Pennsylvania to South Carolina, officials said.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated the case, and a federal grand jury indicted Jackson, charging him with firearms trafficking and possession of a firearm by a felon.
